My Favorite Posts of 2012

Last week we looked at the top viewed posts of 2012.  This week, I'm going to share with you some of my favorites from the blog's first year.

May - Baby Back Barbeque Ribs
We love these ribs and I loved sharing them.  When I look back at the first month of blogging, this post jumps out as the most successful and the post where I felt as though I'd really gotten the hang of things.

June - Watermelon Shrimp Salad
A "souvenir" from our vacation to Virginia Beach, we added this salad to our repertoire of "big salads."  I can't wait until watermelon is in season again so we can enjoy this!

July - Cucumber Apple Salad with Fennel
I made so many things in July that I really enjoyed, it was difficult to choose which one was the favorite.  In the end, this cool, refreshing side won out for it's simplicity.  The runner up was Baked Bree's Summer Corn Chowder.

August - Stuffed Eggplant and Patty Pan Squash
Sometimes just tossing ingredients together as you go along can create the best of meals.  This one was comprised of primarily local vegetables from our community market.

September - Slow Cooker Pork Chops
These pork chops smelled like "home" to me and tasted even better.  They are now in our regular rotation.  I've also made them with pork roast and it works out just as nicely.

October - Reimagined Spice Rack
While it was very tempting to choose my 100th Post, I'm quite proud of how my CD holder turned spice rack came out.

November - Saltimboca alla Romana
Anything I serve up that my husband calls "restaurant quality" has to be in my favorites list.

December - Meatloaf with Creamy Celery "Gravy"
December was full of nostalgia and reflection.  There were my grandmother's Key Lime Pie, sadness over the Newtown, CT shootings, and Christmas traditions with my family.  I would not do justice to all the cooks in my family before me, though, if I did not mention my momma's and my grandmother's meatloaf.
